SKI RESORTS

Liddes-Vichères

Located just a 5 minute drive away, this is the closest ski resort to our chalet, with a shuttle bus running daily from our doorstep. This is a small but good resort used by locals that's away from the hustle and bustle and is never jam-packed with tourists.

There are 15km of slopes available and 4 lifts at elevations between 1,595 and 2,267 m. There are 7km of easy slopes, 5km intermediate and 3km difficult, making it the perfect place for beginner top intermediate skiers, however advanced skiers also won't get bored easily.

It also doesn't have a designated learning area, so it's not idea for first time skiers, however there is a complete beginner slope less than 10 minutes drive away so first timers can train there before joining the others here.

When it comes to taking a break, grabbing a bite to eat or heading for a well deserved beer or vin chaud after the day's skiing,  the resort has a small bar/restaurant at the top of the main lift as well as a larger one at the bottom, both of which have a decent selection as well as more than reasonable prices for Switzerland.

And let's not forget the stunning alpine views of course!

La Fouly

Located around a 30 minute drive away with a  view of the Mount Blanc Massive, La Fouly is the most varied of our local ski resorts, with something for all ages and ability levels. There are 3 lifts and 20km of pistes, as well as additional freeride routes that can only be conquered with a guide. There are also excellent options for cross country skiing and snowshoeing in the valley

La Fouly has a ski school for kids and has an excellent learning area for beginners, who can easily go from testing the water to descending their first blue slope in a matter of hours here. If you fancy getting active in the evening, night skiing is available on the bottom slope every Wednesday and Saturday from 7-9pm, where sledges and mini snow scooters can also be rented.

For those needing to rent equipment, we're good friends with owners of the rental store at the entrance of the resort, so you're sure to get kitted out for a good price. The bar & restaurant is reasonably priced and often hosts a DJ during the weekend, however, if you're looking to grab a cheaper bite to eat, there's also a small supermarket next door to the rental shop.

Champex-Lac

Located about 15-20 minutes drive away next to one of neighbouring villages, this ski resort has 25km of pistes, and while there is one decent blue run, the majority are red and black slopes designed for intermediates and upper-intermediates. There are also plenty of cross country tracks groomed for both classic and skating techniques.

As the pistes start above 2000m, the snow is generally reliable and consistent all throughout the season. The small lower piste is illuminated every night for the night time adventurers.

This is almost definitely the ski resort with the most to do besides skiing and snowboarding with an ice skating rink, an ice climbing pyramid and walking trails around the lake all within the immediate vicinity.

When it comes to eating and drinking, there are 2 restaurants, one at the top of the lift and one at the bottom, as well as a refreshments hut next to the nursery slope.

Verbier

From our Chalet it takes 20 minutes by car to Le Châble, the starting point to the worlds third biggest skiing area.
